Which party would you vote for, if general elections were held today?

Results of 20th October 2006

Are you satisfied with the various parties' work? Do youthink that the government shall be voted out of power and the opposition shall take over? Or do you think that Malta needs even a coalition between two parties? Or don't you want any changes?
General elections are still far away (probably in 2007 or even 2008). But what if.... What if general elections were held today? Which party would you vote for?

Between 10th and 20th October 2006 over 200 people participated in this online poll. Thank you very much!

Here the details:

226 votes were cast in this poll.

Unfortunately, there were 6 people who voted more than one time. The votes of these 6 people had to be made invalid in order to obtain a result which is more honest and true.
So the number of valid votes was 211.

Here the percentages that the various answers got:
PN (Nationalist Party):            76 votes   =   36,02 %
MLP (Malta Labour Party):          79 votes   =   37,44 %
AD (Green Party):                  41 votes   =   19,43 %
Other Parties:                      4 votes   =    1,90 %
Non Voters:                        11 votes   =    5,21 %

INTERPRETATIONS:

This means that for the first time since 1962 the Maltese parliament would host 3 parties. And to obtain a majority a government would have to consist of at least two parties, so a coalition government would become reality.

The editor would like to point out, that this poll is not representative for the whole country. However, it gives a clear indication anyway.

The current government party PN would loose its lead and be only the second strongest parliamentary fraction. The strongest group in parliament would then be MLP. Both big parties would win back votes from AD and from the NonVoters.

Still the big winner, although it lost compared to last month's poll, would be
Alternattiva Demokratika (the Maltese Greens).

This shows very well, that the Maltese people still want a third party in parliament and that neither PN nor MLP have as much support as they used to have over the past few decades.

For democracy a 3 party parliament would definitely be healthy.
