Minister Check

Results of 20th December 2006

We all remember our students' days at school when the teachers gave us grades for our performances. Today this system of grades was applied to rate the ministers' performances in government. Those who cast their votes in this online poll took the roles of the teachers. Grades from A (excellent pass) to F (poor fail) were given.

Between 10th and 20th December 2006 over 2,800 votes were cast in this online poll. Thank you very much!

Here the details:

3,078 votes were cast in this poll.

Unfortunately, there were 15 people who voted more than one time. The votes of these 15 people had to be made invalid in order to obtain a result which is more honest and true.
So the number of valid votes was 2,830.

Here the ranking of the ministers starting with the best rated and ending with the worst rated one:

1.  Minister of Finance                                 C+
    (Lawrence Gonzi)

2.  Minister for Rural Affairs and the Environment      C+

    Technology
    (Austin Gatt)

13. Minister for Tourism and Culture                    E+
    (Francis Zammit Dimech)

INTERPRETATIONS:

The majority of ministers get average grades of C+, C and C-. No one is better rated than with a C+. However, on the other side there are two ministers rated worse than C-. Austin Gatt and Francis Zammit Dimech are rated D+ and E+ and so get the worst grades of all the cabinet ministers.

The editor would like to point out, that this poll is not representative for the whole country. However, it gives a clear indication anyway.

The current government can be rated with a C- in average. This is an average grade, still a pass, but not a grade to be proud of a lot.
